of Jesus will be physically on earth and centred on Jerusalem.
Once King Charles' coronation ended, it was business as usual. But when King Jesus takes up His reign on earth, things will never be the same again! He will be "King of kings and Lord of lords" (Revelation 19:16) and will fulfill the many Old Testament prophecies about the King who is to reign over the earth forever (Isaiah 9:6-7).
When David was king, he knew his kingdom was a type of the one God would later establish (Psalm 2:6-8), when there would be a "King for ever and ever" (Psalm 10:16 & 29:10) who would "rule over the nations" (Psalm 22:27-28) to bless the world as well as Israel (Isaiah 27:6 & 55:3-13).
Few believers are aware of this because Replacement Theology has taught the Church that it's become 'the new Israel', which then requires many of God's promises to Israel to be interpreted allegorically (= just a picture) if they're to apply to the Church. Leading to Calvin's dismissal of the literal end-time rule of Jesus on earth as 'a fiction' that was 'too childish either to need or be worth a refutation'.
Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever; a sceptre of justice will be the sceptre of your kingdom." (Psalm 45:6).
This view deprives believers of the prospect of what really is to come, when the devil will be totally bound and which Revelation 20:1-6 says six times will be for a thousand years. Such that even before all things are finally made new (Revelation 21:5) the effects of the fall will be reversed (Isaiah 2:4 & 11:6-9) and there will be universal justice leading to peace, joy and comfort (Isaiah 32:17-18, 40:1-2 & 61:7).
Furthermore, believers will have a part in this (Daniel 7:27 & Revelation 5:9-10) witnessing God's dwelling with man on earth as the Tabernacle foreshadowed (Exodus 25:8).
In the midst of a world in irreversible decline, the hope of such a coming kingdom is transforming, emboldening us to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom (Romans 1:16-17) and to seek the righteousness that will prevail in it (Matthew 6:33).
What is your vision of how the earth will be filled with the glory of God? (Habakkuk 2:14)
How do you think you might have a part in the coming kingdom? (Revelation 1:6, 5:10 & 20:6)
How do you imagine your future body? (1 Corinthians 15:50-54)
What is the gospel 'of the kingdom'? (Matthew 6:33 & 24:13, Acts 1:3 & 28:31)
